This property features fragrant pine wood decor throughout its 25 rooms and offers ski-in/ski-out access with Matterhorn views. The Burgergemeinde Zermatt maintains the traditional alpine architecture using local materials.

Matterhorn View Accommodations

All 25 rooms feature modern bathrooms with bathrobes, hairdryers, and free toiletries, along with satellite TV and safes. Select rooms offer balconies with partial or direct Matterhorn views, while junior suites provide lateral dream views through windows. Personal ski lockers are available for guests at this scenic ski-in ski-out hotel.

Alpine Terrace Dining

The restaurant serves regional and Swiss products with the finest view of the Matterhorn from its terrace. Guests can enjoy local Pinot Noir while overlooking the mountain that greets restaurant visitors and hotel guests alike. Breakfast operates from 7:00-9:30 with dinner options available for additional charges.

Mountain Spa Facilities

The spa area includes an outdoor whirlpool with Matterhorn views, sauna, steam bath, and relaxation room with day beds. Guests enjoy complimentary use of these facilities alongside the outdoor pool and spa tub. This Bike Hotel-certified property offers ski passes purchased at the adjacent Gornergrat railway station.

Alpine Railway Access

Riffelhaus 1853 sits 4 miles from Zermatt and requires mountain railway access from the car-free village. The Gornergrat railway station sits right next to the property, with Riffelberg station reachable within 25 minutes from Zermatt. The last train departs Zermatt at 19:24 for return transportation.
